Catholic Provider Statement of Beliefs

To be listed in the Catholic Birth Directory as a Catholic birth professional, one must state and sign that:
• He/she is a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church;
• He/she is pro-life birth professional believing that human life begins at conception and that every unborn life must be treated with equal dignity as any other human person;
• He/she does not and will not recommend, refer for, prescribe, or take contraception (this includes hormonal pills, IUDs, implants, or otherwise) for the intention of preventing pregnancy;
• He/she does not and will not recommend, refer for, assist at, or directly perform a sterilization (tubal ligation, hysterectomy, vasectomy, or otherwise) for the intention of preventing pregnancy;
• He/she does not and will not recommend, prescribe, refer for, assist at, or directly procure a chemical or surgical abortion for any reason;
• He/she does not and will not recommend, refer for, assist at, or directly engage in fertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI), surrogacy, or otherwise that directly contradict the moral teachings of the Catholic Church on the dignity of life, sexuality, marriage, or women;
• He/she does not and will not recommend, refer for, practice, or directly engage in anything linked to the New Age movement and occult;
• He/she understands the Catholic teaching on routine infant circumcision and does not perform or recommend routine infant circumcision;
• He/she believes in the Catholic Church's teaching on gender, marriage, and sexuality.
• He/she will do their best to treat every mother and baby within their care with the respect and dignity that is their due right as a human person made in the image and likeness of God.
